Local Sports

The Colorado Springs area has a strong athletics presence, as it hosts the US Olympic Training Center (at the former Ent Air Force Base), including training for too many sports to list here. There is also a local horse riding and rodeo scene.

If you're a baseball fan, check out the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, a local minor league team. Denver, the largest city of Colorado, supports the Denver Nuggets NBA, Denver Broncos NFL, Colorado Rockies MLB and Colorado Avalanche NHL teams.

Fishing: There are extensive fishing waters in Colorado, including reservoirs, the Platte River in the northeast (close to Denver), the Colorado River, the Blue River, White River, and many mountain lakes and streams. Fishing regulations vary on some sites. Check the Colorado Division of Wildlife website for more information.

Hunting: There is good hunting in the foothills and mountains, including bighorn sheep, mountain goat, moose, deer, pronghorn, elk; bear and mountain lion. Fowl hunting includes grouse, prairie-chicken, mourning dove, pheasant, geese, and turkey. Check the Colorado Division of Wildlife website for more information.
